SETAC-AU Best Student Oral Presentation Award

This award is presented in recognition of the best oral presentation given by a current Higher Degree by Research (HDR) student at an annual conference of SETAC-AU. The award will provide financial support to the recipient to enable them to present their seminar at an international meeting within 18 months of receiving the award.  The purpose of this award is to promote the dissemination of high quality student research at an international forum.

Eligibility

To be considered eligible for this award, a potential recipient must, at the time they present at the SETAC-AU conference, be:

  • Actively enrolled (full-time or part-time) in postgraduate studies (PhD or masters by research) at a recognised university.
  • A current financial student member of SETAC-AU, or eligible to become such a member (that is, currently enrolled and studying within the Australasia geographical area).
  • Presenting their own research.  Written confirmation may be sought from the supervisors to confirm that the work is consistent with recipient being first author if the research was published.
  • A person who has not previously received this award.

Assessment criteria

Student oral presentations will be assessed by a panel of SETAC members selected by the organising committee of the SETAC-AU conference, with any conflict of interest considered by the organising committee or by consultation with SETAC-AU Council representatives.

Prize

A cash prize of $350.

A recipient that is not a SETAC-AU student member will receive a 12 month membership to the society, and will have the price of the membership deducted from the prize.

The runner-up will receive a $150 cash prize.
